Lucifer Morningstar, a prominent figure in DC Comics, is the former ruler of Hell. Originally an angel named Samael, he rebelled against his father, the Presence (God), and was subsequently cast out of Heaven. This act cemented his role as the embodiment of rebellion and free will.
For millennia, Lucifer reigned over Hell, administering punishment and overseeing the damned. However, weary of his responsibilities and the perceived futility of his existence, he abdicated his throne and abandoned Hell.
